لماذا تحويل AVIF إلى PNG؟
AVIF is a newer format with excellent compression, but not all software and platforms support it yet. Converting to PNG guarantees compatibility — virtually every image viewer, editor, and web browser opens PNG by default. PNG is also the preferred format for editing workflows where you need lossless pixel data to pass between tools. For sharing on social media or embedding in documents that reject AVIF uploads, PNG is the reliable fallback.

Expect your PNG files to be significantly larger than the AVIF originals. AVIF achieves 50%+ better compression than JPEG for similar quality, while PNG stores every pixel losslessly. A 500 KB AVIF photo might become 3–5 MB as PNG. This is normal and expected. Keep AVIF originals for storage and use PNG only when you need universal compatibility or lossless editing capability.

For the best of both worlds, keep AVIF as your primary storage format (small files, excellent quality) and convert to PNG on demand when you need broad compatibility. AVIF is ideal for web delivery and archiving. Can I convert AVIF images to PNG without losing quality?
Yes. PNG is a lossless format, so the pixel data is preserved exactly. However, note that AVIF itself uses lossy compression internally during encoding. The conversion from decoded AVIF to PNG is lossless — what you see in the AVIF is what you get in the PNG, with no additional degradation.
Why can't this conversion use Canvas like other tools?
Most browsers cannot decode AVIF images via Canvas. AVIF is a relatively new format that requires dedicated decoding libraries. Our tool uses wasm-vips, a WebAssembly port of the Vips image processing library, to decode AVIF in-browser. This ensures broad compatibility and accurate decoding without uploading your files to a server.
Will my AVIF file transparency be preserved in PNG?
Yes. AVIF supports alpha transparency, and PNG also supports it. When you convert an AVIF image with transparent areas to PNG, the transparency is fully preserved. This is a key advantage over formats like JPG which cannot handle transparency at all.
Is there a file size limit for AVIF to PNG conversion?
There is no hard file size limit, but because conversion happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly, very large images may take longer to process and consume more memory. For typical web images under 20 MB, conversion is fast. Files are never uploaded — everything stays on your device.
